I took this photo in Rome. I don't actually remember why I took it or what I was hoping to memorialize. Nor why I manipulated the color to make it pop like a 1970's postcard. But while flicking through the many images from that trip, this one struck me as asking for an explanation. A line of dialogue. Something. So you tell me. Jot down your story, dialogue, caption, in the comments area below.
Winning entrant to be determined not quite at random, as this is a contest. But he, she, or they has a darned good chance to win a plasticky prize of uncertain provenance and dubious value. Or maybe a pie. Good luck!

Ah The papal coat of arms atop the trevi fountain. Perfect backdrop for La Dolce Vita -- Frederico Fellini. Or maybe the fountain contains Aqua Virgo. In either case, I find that more humorous than anything I can say.

Ed, thank you! I had (sadly) forgotten where in Rome this character was located.

I kept playing that damn harp and blowing that despicable horn. But I that sweet nectar. That delightful potion. My captors continued to hand me goblet after goblet and I was a prisoner. I needed the sweet hooch and was powerless against its lure. So I kept playing. And playing. The music getting more putrid and distasteful with each mouthful.

angel two - Excuse me, but I couldn't help notice! That's a lovely flugelhorn you have there. angel one - Thanks! angel two - You know, I play a pretty mean trumpet myself. Mind if I give it a try? angel one - Why, yes. I mind very much. You see, it's allergic to beer breath, and I believe you've been practicing your embouchure on quite a few pints! angel two - No, really! I told my dad that when I grow up I'm going to be a horn player. angel one - And let me guess. He said, "Well son, you'll have to choose one!". angel two - ouchy !

The 'Flying Scot upstate New York apple pie recipe' might have to be a new addition to the Moosewood Cookbook. I think they have an apple crisp (oats but no nutmeg) but that just aint enough for a cookbook from apple country. Thanks for the fun site !
